Philippians 4:11-13
11 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.
12 I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.
13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

How many people do you know who are truly satisfied? Now, I don’t mean that they never have any trouble in their life. No, I’m talking about being satisfied as Paul describes here in our passage.
The word is “content.” This means to have an inner satisfaction. Now, Paul says that he has that inner contentment, not fretting and worrying and continually unhappy where he is. Notice in (v.11) he said that “in whatever circumstances” he was in.
Then he goes on to explain clearly what he meant in (v.12) Whether he lived in prosperity or in humble means which means not having much. Whether he was filled by having more than enough food or he was hungry from not having enough.
Sometimes he had enough things so as to help others and sometimes he himself was in need.
Through it all, he was content, satisfied.

Now, something very important for us to not miss.
Notice Paul said “I have learned to be content.”
It was not something that he knew from the moment he was saved. Paul learned and matured in his walk with Christ and therefore he grew in his understanding of life. What helped him to get to this place of contentment no matter the circumstances?
(v.13) “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
Thats it!! Paul had learned that Jesus was faithful to always provide the strength to go through any and all circumstances. Once he learned that, he was satisfied!
Lord, help all of us as Your children to learn this valuable truth that results in peaceful contentment.
