Colossians 3:1-4

1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

I remember an old saying that ive heard all of my life; “He’s so heavenly minded that he’s no earthly good.”

Well, I have been a Christian now for more than 36 years and I must tell you that I have found that old saying to be absolutely inaccurate about anyone that I have ever known! I have never met anybody who was so heavenly minded that he/she was no earthly good!

In fact, our text commands us to

(v.1) “keep seeking the things above

(v.2) “set yout mind on the things above”

Where is above??

(v.1) “where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.”

So, we are commanded to keep our minds continually tuned into Heavenly things; this includes God’s glory, God’s will, God’s ways and God’s people.

Where do we go to tune our minds into those things??

The Word of God. So, we are to take every opportunity we can to read, meditate on, love, learn and obey the Word of God.

We are to spend time alone with God in His Word for sure. Then God has blessed us with the local church where we gather to “tune in” to God’s glory, God’s people and God’s will and ways by spendung time together worshipping our Lord and “tuning into His Word.

The local church is a gift from God to help all of us to understand God’s Word better and therefore to love God more and more.

Come on! Let’s get up and go “tune into” things above, where Christ is, seated at tge right hand of God!!
