Psalm 29:10-11 10 The Lord sat as King at the flood; Yes, the Lord sits as King forever. 11 The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace. THE flood; not just a flood, but the flood that covered the earth, the Lord was sitting as King. The Lord was sitting in sovereign rule and reign. This is a clear reminder of the fact that though we do serve the God of mercy and grace and love, never forget that He is also holy and therefore He is also the God of judgement and wrath. He is and will be glorified in being both. Notice, it is this same Lord who sits as King forever. This is a reminder that there has never been, nor will there ever be a minute in history when our Lord is not seated as King. Sometimes, because evil is so prevalent in our day, it seems that the Lord is somehow not in control. However, keep in mind that we serve a God who is full of mercy and grace and patience that is far beyond what our minds can even comprehend, BUT the day is coming when the time for forgiveness and mercy will come to an end, just like at the time of the flood when the door of the ark closed. The only thing that remained for those outside was judgement. Today, as in that day, God is lovingly calling and God is patiently warning that the time for mercy and forgiveness is passing for those who have not repented and believed upon Christ resulting in the transformation of one’s life. John 3:18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. The verdict is already in. Those who reject Jesus as Lord of their life are guilty and the fulfillment of their judgement is ahead. HOWEVER, as v.11 tells us; for those who are truly His, there is God’s strength for today and peace forevermore!! Let’s pray for our family and friends who do not show any indication that there is a desire for Christ Jesus to reign as King and Lord in their lives. They might acknowledge that they “believe in God” but even the demons of Hell have that much faith. (James 2:19) You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. Let’s pray for real, biblical saving faith in Christ that brings regeneration and transformation of a life from the inside out. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
