Psalm 6:6-10

6 I am weary with my sighing;

Every night I make my bed swim,

I dissolve my couch with my tears.

7 My eye has wasted away with grief;

It has become old because of all my adversaries.

8 Depart from me, all you who do iniquity,

For the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.

9 The Lord has heard my supplication,

The Lord receives my prayer.

10 All my enemies will be ashamed and greatly dismayed;

They shall turn back, they will suddenly be ashamed.

I seperated v.7 from v.8 because there is a major shift in the Psalmist’s prayer that must happen in our praying when we are going through difficult circumstances and we have been crying out to God for help and relief. You can hear the hurt and frustration in (vv.6-7) because of no answer that has come from God yet.

Can we not identify with the Psalmist sometimes?

We have a need and we need God to move in some way to help us.

It reminds me of the disciples in the boat in Mark 4 when rhe storm was raging with the wind and waves and the boat was taking on water. Some of those men were professional fishermen, so they had been in some bad storms before, but this time they thought they were not going to make it.

Meanwhile, Jesus was lying in the back of the boat ASLEEP. Remember their words in (Mark 4:38)?

Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

Have we not all ask that question at rimes?? Maybe not verbally, but ar least in our minds.

Does He really know and if He does know, does He care??

This is where we MUST move from v.7 to v.8.

8 Depart from me, all you who do iniquity,

For the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.

When there are things in our life that we do not understand and we do not have the answer, we must not focus on what we don’t know, but rather on what we DO KNOW.

We DO KNOW v.8 that God DOES hear us!

We DO KNOW v.9 that the Lord receives our prayer.

we DO KNOW v.10 “All my enemies will be ashamed and greatly dismayed;

They shall turn back, they will suddenly be ashamed.”

In God’s time and in His way, He will move and He will meet our need and give us the victory in every trial.

It is easy to say that we trust God, but eventually, the Lord will require that we prove we really do trust Him.
